Love your GPA, Then they saw your Tweets.

Social media is a way for teenagers to communicate online from almost anywhere in the world. Admission officers are now using this to look at the students that are applying at a university. Harmful remarks about a teacher or school can be seen online by anyone and some students have been denied admission to colleges for this. A telephone survey had questioned admission officers, if they visit an applicants Facebook or other personal media sites to learn more abut them. Out of all that took the survey 31% said that they had, and 30% said it has negatively affected the prospects entry.

I was surprised by the fact that admission officers have time to go through the internet for every applicant and find more information on the applicant. Also social media accounts should be private so why does it matter?

Personally I have never though about posting offensive information online but now i know it is a smart move not to.
